Vaccination programs for HPV and Hepatitis B are designed to prevent infections and reduce the risk of associated complications. These vaccination plans are tailored to each individual’s health profile, promoting overall well-being and peace of mind while ensuring patient safety and proper guidance.

🩺  How Necessary Are Vaccines for Sexually Transmitted Infections and Hepatitis B?

Two vaccines that are frequently asked about in clinics are the HPV vaccine (covering 9 strains) and the recombinant Hepatitis B vaccine. Both vaccines are considered highly effective in reducing the risk of serious diseases transmitted through sexual contact and blood.

🧬 HPV 9-Strain Vaccine

The HPV 9-strain vaccine is currently the most comprehensive vaccine covering the highest number of HPV strains. It helps prevent several types of diseases, including:

  • Cervical cancer

  • Vaginal and vulvar cancer

  • Anal cancer

  • Oral and throat cancers

It also helps prevent genital warts.

💉 HPV Vaccination Schedule

The HPV vaccine is administered in 3 doses:

  • Dose 1: On the chosen start date

  • Dose 2: 1–2 months after the first dose

  • Dose 3: 6 months after the first dose

🎯 Key Benefits of the HPV 9-Strain Vaccine

  • Cancer Prevention: Covers HPV strains that cause cervical, vaginal, vulvar, anal, and oral/throat cancers, including strains 16, 18, 31, 33, 45, 52, and 58.

  • Genital Wart Prevention: Protects against strains 6 and 11 that cause genital warts.

  • Reduces Precancerous Lesions: Lowers the risk of precancerous lesions in various organs.

👩‍⚕️ Who Is It Suitable For?

This vaccine can be administered to both females and males, aged 9–45 years. Physicians recommend vaccination before the onset of sexual activity to achieve the best immune response.

📌 Additional Information

  • The vaccine only protects against the HPV strains included in the vaccine.

  • It cannot treat existing HPV infections or cancers.

  • After vaccination, regular cancer screening according to your physician’s recommendations is still necessary.

🩸 Hepatitis B Vaccine (Recombinant Type)

The Hepatitis B vaccine is another important vaccine that should not be overlooked. The virus can be transmitted through blood, sexual contact, and from mother to child. Chronic infection may lead to liver cirrhosis or liver cancer in the future.

💉 Hepatitis B Vaccination Schedule
This vaccine is also administered in 3 doses:

  • Dose 1: On the chosen start date

  • Dose 2: 1–2 months after the first dose

  • Dose 3: 6 months after the first dose

🔍 Is Pre-Vaccination Immunity Testing Necessary?

  • Before vaccination, physicians recommend a blood test to determine whether the body already has immunity. The two main tests are:

  1. HBsAg → Checks for current Hepatitis B infection

  2. Anti-HBs → Checks for immunity against the virus

    Test Results and Interpretation:

  • HBsAg negative + Anti-HBs ≥ 10 mIU/mL → Indicates existing immunity; vaccination is not required

  • HBsAg positive → Indicates current infection; vaccination is not needed, but treatment should be considered

  • HBsAg negative + Anti-HBs < 10 mIU/mL → No immunity and no infection; vaccination is recommended for optimal protection

Doctor’s Summary

Both HPV and Hepatitis B vaccines are considered a valuable long-term investment in health. They help reduce the risk of serious diseases that may sometimes be untreatable.

Physicians encourage everyone, especially working-age adults and those beginning sexual activity, to prioritize appropriate testing and vaccination for better health, safety, and protection against disease. ❤️
